Those that have seen the original drawing of my portrait will know that this is the continue of the same series…. of portrait.

The truth is, it all started with a very simple sketch on a receipt paper…. while we (me and a close friend) were having dinner many many years back. I cant really remember how the sketch look like or neither he still keep that little sketch.

Anyway, Andi’s saw the painting of my portrait at our old home at Potong Pasir and he like it so much and asking for it… but i say sorry i do not sell my art work, and he seems really keen of having it….. as matter of fact he is quite persistent cause after a year later he ask for it again….. hahahhaha (that is like 3 years back from now) and this time i said OK… i will paint it for your birthday!!!!!

And 1 year passes….. he still did not get his painting… OH btw, he was the one that paid for the canvas as we meet up to choose the canvas size… LOL….

And the 2nd year passes…. i was way too busy with my life and work that i totally forgotten the painting is rotting at one corner…. and of course i kept telling him… in progress… LOL

So the 3rd year came…. i decided to pick up the brushes and play with the stroke…. but it was not really inspired and my fingers felt really rusty for not been painting for such a long time….. this time its really in progress.

but then came the bad news from my eldest sis Leanne…..hey, Andi is in Taiwan now!!!! and he is not so good…… he had a bad relationship …. haizzzz……

Well, the next thing i did is i cover the whole canvas with a layer of white paint and repainted Andi’s.

Last year i made him a HUGE Tiramisu cake…..  so how about this year? well i did ask buddy for some idea and she showed me a link from Lomography…. using the Diana F+ plastic cover on the box packaging to make a chocolate shape Diana F+.

Well i end up making him an “agar agar” Diana F+ instead…. and i ask him before hand what flavor he wanted, infact i ask him to choose between, the Japanese jelly, the ang moh jelly or the traditional agar agar…… and he say :-

I WANT COKE FLAVOR AGAR AGAR !!!!! how cute… he sounded like a kid demanding for an ice cream

The shape is meant to be a surprise but he saw the plastic mold when he enter the kitchen trying to get a glass of water….. haizzzzz…. but he still enjoy the agar agar and finish them all by himself the next day. FYI, that is equivalent to 1litre of agar agar.

So agar agar is just a part of the surprise… the main one is i sew him “something”
i’m pretty sure mostly people have some “home clothing” = clothes that u wear only at home
For him he got a few favorite shorts that he still wear even thou the rubber on the waist is all torn and loose….. hence i sew him a pair of “home short” with a proper waist rubber … heheheh…. i hide it in his wardrobe right before midnight on the 25th…. and he only notice it on the 26th about 6pm….. and this time he is really surprise.

WHY fluorescent?
We went to the usual provision shop near our place and Jimmy say.. OK faster choose the color you want……
and i was looking at the range … GOLD? nah…. abit boring CHROME? i already have a chrome fishy….. and it suddenly strike me i nvr tried spraying FLUORESCENT….. and i took 2 different color… orange and yellow.

The first thing i learn when i got back home……
*instruction :- Please spray a layer of FLAT WHITE no.100 as base before you spray this color.
DUHH!!!!!

The next day i went DAISO… bought 2 different color … pink and green, and of course i went art fren to get my flat white…….as well.

The journey started with planning of which part to be which color and spray all the selected part with the flat white….
*all area must be fully cover, you dun want to see some dotted black area…
it took me some time to fully spray all the parts as some part is too tiny to handle and DAISO paint is definitely not a very good choice, hence i have to remove and respray a few of them

next -> assembling
this is really killing me as i did not take into consideration when i was doing the spraying… some parts is just nicely fit, but due to the thickness of the paint i almost break one of the tiny fellow while trying to FIX the mess. To top if of there is some paint that just chip of easily.. and i need to remove everything and go back to step 1… -> re-spray
* and i did change the color of 1 part from PINK to ORANGE because the paint from DAISO which is not suitable for assembling the view finder flaps….it chips of the moment i clip in the other parts… but i still like the final outcome

and of course i added a lovely leather strap i got from DAISO … guess what the original strap is actually a DOG ROPE, and here is my FLUORESCENT GAKKEN TLR!!!!!!
